The Hershey-Harrisburg Amateur will be contested as a 36-hole individual net stroke-play tournament to determine a winner in each Flight. Players will be pre-Flighted based on their USGA Handicap Index. Optional GROSS Flights will be available in both the Men's and Women's Divisions for players with a 7 handicap or lower, choosing to also compete on a scratch basis.
Based on final field size and the total number of Flights established, a set number of finalists from each Flight will advance to the Championship Flight on Sunday, September 19th. Flight finalists will be paired by their USGA Handicap Index and compete on a NET basis to determine the overall tournament champion. Those players not advancing into the Championship Flight, will participate in an 18-hole, individual stroke place Challenge Flight tournament on Sunday, September 19th. Challenge Round participants will be paired by flight. All players will compete concurrently at the Hershey Links.
DIVISIONS:
Men's Gross (Scratch); Men (21-49), Senior Men (50 to 64), Super Senior Men (65 and older), Women's Gross (Scratch); Women (21-49), and Senior Women (50 and older). Placement is based upon a participant’s age as of September 10, 2010. Participants may choose to compete in a lower age Division. Total number of divisions and age breaks may change subject to final field size and makeup. Men's and Women's Gross Flights will be staged if a minimum of 4 players are registered in each flight. If not, men and women will compete together, from different tees, in a single Gross Flight. All Divisions and Flights will be confirmed at Player Registration.
FLIGHTS:
All participants are assigned to a Flight based upon their USGA Handicap Index. The final number of Flights is contingent upon tournament participation and the Tournament Handicap Range for each respective Division. Flights will average approximately 10-20 participants based on a full-field.
CARTS / CADDIES:
All players are required to ride in a cart. Tournament entry fee includes golf and cart fees for all rounds. Spectators are allowed, but are prohibited from riding in the participant carts or interfering with play in any way. The use of caddies is prohibited.
RANGE FINDERS / YARDAGE MEASURING DEVICE:
The Hershey-Harrisburg Amateur will allow players to obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only during tournament rounds. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc,), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
RULES OF PLAY:
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. Local Rules sheets will be provided at each golf facility. All disputes regarding any aspect of tournament play will be reviewed by the Tournament Committee. All rules decisions are final.
